Kinja'd!!!

Car is only 3 weeks old so not in terrible condition, but it was black which means a polish is always in order. Went around the car with a combination of Meguiars M205 mixed with Meguiars Ultimate Polish, then waxed it with Bilt Hamber Finnis Wax.

Very nice work.

The car looks okay, bar the front. I just don’t think I’m ready to have a car with no grille, even a faux one.

Even if it does meaning saving lots of time sheening the grille slats or mesh. Lol.

My detailing is a side job, so I work on all kinds of cars. This one belongs to my sister in laws father.

Yeah it’s  not a looker, but it drives well, and the paddle “shifters” are how you dial in regen braking, which is really smart. Overall it’s a decent car, but you can tell where the money was saved.

Wish me luck.

I’ve another bloody black Audi to do tomorrow (black 2018 Audi A4 saloon) .

I’ve a three hour window of sun from 10am , then two hour w indow of cloud, then 50-60% chance of rain from 3pm til 6pm.

Do you use ONR at all? If you have a small window to polish and wax, i’d just ONR the paint and clay then go crack at it with polish. Maybe seal it with one of those super popular spray on wipe off things that got super popular (Seal N Shine).

I’ve never used an ONR and I don’t use wax.

It’ll be, full wash and decon, Dry with Gyeon Cure as a drying aid. Vacuum, interior wipe down.

The trouble is, people see me on the street and want to talk or I get dragging into ‘briefly’ help someone with something.

Oh ok, so a quick tidy up detail versus digging in. I’m going to try wet coat sometime this week on my in laws car, might be a good product for you. ONR is great for fast paint cleaning , but you go through a lot of microfibers.

Ye’, the car is looked after but recently there has been some new baby seagulls and the adults get very protective over them, diving at cats, dogs and humans walking below but also meaning masses of birdbombs all over the cars. The car is otherwise well looked after but has no protection and the owner has been away in London for a few days.

Gyeon Wetcoat is good. I don’t use it on dark coloured or black cars as it can be prone to leaving water marks.

I greatly minimise it by using a hairdressers atomiser spray bottle.

It’s great as it’s a constant spray without having to keep pumping hard on the trigger.

For quick- quick washes, I use CarPro Hydro2Foam which is a snow foam applied sealant, then just dry.

I’ve really enjoyed Wet Coat, especially applied from my larger iK Multi Sprayer. It can take a hell of a beating while still providing plenty of protection.

I put it to a real test on my sister's four year old CX-5. It's probably never seen any proper treatment, but I was doing it for free and she doesn't care. So I did my normal foam cannon, then decon with Gtechniq, wash, sprayed on WetCoat and rinsed. I was actually shocked at well it livened up the paint. And I saw it a few days later and it still looked awesome. I can't decide whether to use WetCoat or P&S Bead Maker for a package on cars when I actually start doing it for money.

Crazy, you really do the road side detail. If you’re ever in Canada i’ll Let you play around in the garage, we could detail your rental haha.

Bead maker doesn’t last, and it has pretty poor water behaviour. I would save if fora showcar when gloss and slickness matter most.

Interesting. I guess I can’t do a very good test on it since my cars are coated and I’m constantly adding some topping to it.

How long did Bead Maker last for you?

Not for me, but all the other youtube channels that tested it. It’s got amazing gloss and slickness, but it masks coatings and other LSPs very harshly. It also required a lot of product on first application, and doesn’t stand up well to chemical resistances (it also doesn’t bead well).

I did know it takes a lot of product on first application, but I didn’t find this an issue as it’s so damn cheap. I compared it with CarPro Reload, my main drying aid and topper. In perfect conditions (right temperature and humidity, which is probably 60-70 and 40%) I liked it better than Reload. I didn’t have to go back and buff off the haze. But I think the gloss and slickness was the same as Reload. But, the price difference is insane.

As far as durability, that’s not as much of a concern to me either as I’m constantly topping up the paint with something. If people are truly worried about long term protection then they need to do a PPF. But all these coatings and such are BS and in the long run a waste of time. I’m glad I tried a coating on my cars so that I know never to do it again or try to sell it to a customer. They’re better off paying for a decon and topper once a month than they are shelling out thousands for a coating.

And I found it to bead very well.

Check out Turtle Wax ICE Seal N Shine if you want a cheap, glossy, slick, AND durable WOWO product. It’s insanely good, and cheap as hell.

C oatings aren’t awaste of time, they’re just not for everyone. I have them on my wheels, as my Prius wheels have zero clearance between the brake and barrel, so that keeps things have until I have time to pull them to clean (car does a lot of mileage, tire rotations happen pretty often).
